Have your details ready. This includes your account number as well as taking a note of your minimum contract period.
Make sure there are no outstanding balances on your account. If you’re on a fixed rate, you will have to pay an early exit fee to leave your contract early. So make sure to check out your contract terms.

Call 0333 202 9802 to cancel your direct debit.

Check your bank statement to make sure the direct debit is cancelled.
Your final British Gas Bill should be with you in 4 weeks. It can take longer if you have had a query with your final meter reading.
